Classroom, kitchen and cafeteria expansion and renovations to accommodate consolidation of buildings.
In order to consolidate all the elementary schools in the district into one building, Clear Lake Community Schools needed to expand and renovate the Clear Creek Elementary building. After breaking ground in the Fall of 2007, the DSC project manager worked to schedule construction to minimize disruption to students and staff and the on-site crew was diligent in making sure the site was always clean, safe, and professional.
Two new steel and masonry classroom pods, complete with bathrooms, were added, one for first grade and one for second grade. Bathrooms were also added to the existing third grade pod. Throughout the building corridor finishes were updated, including new ceramic tile floors.
A complete new kitchen was added to eliminate the need to haul in prepared food from the high school. The commercial-grade kitchen area includes walk-in coolers and freezers, as well as a dedicated loading dock. The cafeteria was also expanded to accommodate the additional students.
Several exterior improvements were also made, including modern new entry canopies, additional staff parking and a new playground area, tailored to younger children.
