Project Description

Dean Snyder Construction began working with Barilla Group’s manufacturing facility in Ames, Iowa, in late March of 2015 on a $26.5 million expansion project to increase production of gluten-free pasta. The design-build project involved remodeling a 21,000 square-foot portion of their current facility into a gluten-free area. The new design includes a control room, boiler room, MCC area, process area, packaging area, and a wash down area. In addition, raw material storage and related packaging and palletizing equipment to produce the pasta was added. The product produced in this new part of the facility had to be completely isolated from other lines in the production plant to keep the allergens out. This involved installing a new HVAC system for the gluten-free packaging and processing area.

Products produced in the Ames facility are shipped across the United States as well as internationally.
